Marlow Design Celebrates New Location in Ramsay, Calgary

On October 4, 2025, filled with emotion and celebration, Marlow Design officially opened the doors to its stunning new location in Calgary's Ramsay Design Centre. Our team welcomed family, friends, colleagues, and clients to witness the culmination of 10 years of hard work, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to storytelling through jewellery. 

More Than Just Jewellery 

"I have a secret to tell you guys," Marlow began. "This isn't a jewellery company. This is a storytelling company." 

That declaration set the tone for an evening that was as much about people and relationships as it was about business growth. For Marlow, jewellery has never been about the metal or the stones—it's about hearing people's stories and translating them into something physical and meaningful. 

A Journey of Perseverance 

Marlow's speech traced his remarkable journey from Red Deer to Calgary, from corporate jewellery to entrepreneurship. Raised by his father Bill, a heavy duty mechanic, and mother Karen, who worked in education, Marlow learned the values of hard work, education, and critical thinking from an early age. 

When his mother passed away from cancer in 2000, those lessons deepened. "She taught me pure perseverance in a time of pain," Marlow shared, his voice breaking with emotion. His father Bill stepped up in extraordinary ways, teaching him honour, respect, and the importance of taking care of those who rely on you. 

From Corporate to Independent 

After years in corporate jewellery retail, Marlow reached a breaking point in 2014. Despite achieving success and hitting targets, the rollercoaster of corporate validation left him empty. He recalled looking at a crystal reward that he was given for all the hard work he had done and feeling absolutely indifferent to it. 

That moment sparked a decision that would change his life. He left the corporate world with a simple mission: to never treat anyone the way he had been treated. "Nobody will ever go through what I had in a business with our name and symbol... nobody will be made to feel less than." 

Throughout the evening, Marlow brought team members on stage and loved ones to honour their contributions. 

The New Space: A Dream Realized 

The new location at 105-1900 11 St SE in the Ramsay Design Centre represents everything Marlow has worked toward. But in characteristic fashion, he made it clear: "This isn't for me. I don't need this. My team and my clients deserve this place." 

For most guests, this was their first time seeing the new 4000 square foot showroom. The reactions made all the planning worth it. People walked in and immediately noticed the difference: more room to browse, plenty of access to natural light, and an inviting layout. 

The space was set up so guests could explore at their own pace. Wedding band displays, engagement ring prototypes, and some of the company's favourite custom pieces were on view throughout the showroom. The space will soon feature a state-of-the-art workshop where as much work as possible will be done in-house, ensuring quality and allowing the team to personally touch each piece of jewellery they create. 

Celebrating Together 

Cocktails and appetizers kept flowing as people mingled. The vibe was relaxed—less formal, more like a gathering of people who genuinely know and support each other. 

Clients shared stories about their rings and the moments behind them. That's always the best part: hearing how the pieces become part of people's lives. One couple talked about their engagement ring consultation from years ago, another shared updates about their growing family and how they've come back for anniversary bands. 

Looking Forward 

As the evening drew to a close, Marlow outlined plans for the future: 

• Gift-giving season: Expanding their custom offerings while introducing some ready-made pieces for last-minute shoppers
• Giving back: Exploring nonprofit partnerships and community initiatives to give back to Calgary, the city Marlow calls "the greatest city on earth"
• Workshop expansion: Building a compliant, ethical workshop space where the team can bring more work in-house 

But beyond the business plans, the evening was about gratitude—for the family who shaped him, the team who believed in him, the clients who stuck with them through challenging locations and circumstances, and the city that has embraced Marlow Design. 

"Thank you for waiting for us," Marlow told the assembled guests, "and trusting that we were gonna get here eventually. This is a place where I want dreams to come true." 

As champagne glasses clinked and guests explored the beautiful new space, one thing was abundantly clear: Marlow Design isn't just celebrating a new location. They're celebrating the magic that happens when you turn stories into something you can hold in your hand.
